Full Job Description
You will play a key role in welcoming and supporting visitors and service users of the Museum Service, helping to create a safe, friendly, and engaging environment. You will also contribute to maintaining general security and public safety across all Northampton Museum sites.
This role is for 20 hours per week, worked on an annualised rota, offering variety and flexibility in working patterns. The position includes alternate weekend working, some bank holidays, and regular evening shifts, all planned in advance through a pre-arranged rota.
What will you be doing?
You will enjoy a varied and rewarding role, acting as a friendly and welcoming face of the museum for our visitors. Your duties will include supporting the set-up of exhibitions and events, responding to museum enquiries, assisting with cleaning and event preparation, providing refreshments, and selling tickets and merchandise in the shop.

You are an enthusiastic, practical, and reliable individual who enjoys working with people and being part of a busy, visitor-focused environment. You take pride in providing a warm welcome and delivering a positive experience for everyone who visits the museum.
You have strong communication skills, a friendly and helpful manner, and experience of working with the public. Flexibility is important to you, and you are happy to work weekends, bank holidays, and evenings to support the needs of the service.
You are also comfortable taking on responsibility when required, including acting as a Keyholder.
