Full Job Description

Visitor Experience Officer

Cliveden Estate is an inspiring place to build a career in creativity, heritage and the outdoors. Cliveden House's riverside setting and family-friendly events draw visitors all year round, making this property a busy location with a wide range of opportunities. There is always plenty to do at the 375-acre estate, with conservation of the Long Garden among recent projects. There are acres of woodland paths, a series of formal gardens with far-reaching views across the Thames and an intimate Rose Garden for those wanting a little bit of peace and tranquillity.

Cliveden's team are close-knit with a wonderful sense of community. You'll be reporting to the Senior Visitor Experience Officer, working closely with the colleagues in the Visitor Experience Team and wider property to ensure the delivery of programming and events is smooth operationally, departments feel involved, and objectives are met. The nearest station is Taplow, or you'll need your own transport to get here.

As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you'll be organising seasonal activities and events, and work on outdoor interpretation to engage our visitors, tell the history of our places and engaging them in conservation. You'll work in collaboration to grow existing partnerships and network to build new ones which will help design and support delivery of activities, as well as progress the work we have been doing to make sure the places we care for are accessible and welcoming to diverse audiences. The role will help drive the delivery of our seasonal family trails and Christmas offer, new interpretation around the gardens, and play a key role in creating our future programming plans. You will be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You'll be supporting the Duty Manager and the operational demands of the site on a day-to-day basis. You'll receive appropriate training and be required to complete occasional Duty Manager shifts.

The National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It's important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.

  • Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% basic salary
  • Free entry to National Trust places for you, a guest and your children (under 18)
  • Rental deposit loan scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • EV car lease scheme (for roles that meet the salary criteria)
  • Perks at work discounts such as gym memberships, shopping discount codes, cinema discounts
  • Holiday allowance up to 32 days relating to length of service, plus holiday purchase scheme, subject to meeting minimum criteria.
  • Flexible working whenever possible
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Free parking at most Trust places

Closing Date: 26th April 2026

  • Internal Applicants only

We've got an opportunity for you to join our team at Cliveden as the Visitor Experience Officer.
