Visiting Teacher of Speech and Drama

Hours: Two evenings per week, working between 4.30pm and 9.00pm; specific hours to be agreed at the beginning of each term

St Edward's Oxford is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Visiting Teacher of Speech and Drama to inspire pupils and help them develop their confidence, communication skills and theatrical ability.

Working with pupils individually or in pairs, you will deliver engaging weekly Speech and Drama lessons incorporating vocal and physical warm-ups, text work, improvisation and performance technique. You will support pupils working towards LAMDA examinations, predominantly across grades 5 to 8, as well as helping them prepare for performances and develop their wider acting and public-speaking skills.

You will plan your own weekly timetable around pupil availability, set ambitious but appropriate targets and produce termly reports outlining pupils' progress and future development. Pupils are encouraged to follow individual pathways, whether that means achieving a first LAMDA grade, progressing towards Grade 8 or diploma-level qualifications, developing repertoire or performing in School presentation evenings.

About you

You will have experience of teaching young people and the ability to enthuse pupils about Speech and Drama. A teaching or performance diploma, or equivalent experience, is essential, together with a good understanding of the LAMDA syllabus. You will be an excellent communicator, confident working independently and able to set clear targets that encourage pupils to fulfil their potential.
