More about the role As a Veterinary Surgeon at Blue Cross, you will be exposed to a wide variety of medical, surgical and emergency cases. This enables you to build clinical confidence quickly while working within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will work with our award-winning clinical guidelines, designed to support pragmatic, evidence-based decision making where patient welfare is always the priority. We maintain high clinical standards while encouraging a culture where learning is shared openly in a safe, non-judgemental environment. We recognise the importance of wellbeing within the veterinary profession. Our hospitals have dedicated wellbeing champions and Mental Health First Aiders who promote a culture of openness and support. As winners of the BVA Wellbeing Awards, we are committed to creating a workplace where you feel safe, supported and valued. The shift pattern is predominantly Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, supporting a strong work life balance. You will also take part in the evening and weekend rota, which typically includes:

  • approximately one evening per week for emergency calls and inpatient care only
  • one weekend every six weeks, with time off in lieu provided

  • Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Demonstrable small animal or mixed practice experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
