Full Job Description

In this role you'll assist and support the wider veterinary team in ensuring consistent, compassionate, and effective care for all animals. You'll also contribute to the delivery of excellent nursing care by applying best practices in clinical procedures, maintaining compliance with Battersea's protocols and RCVS Small Animal General Practice Standards. Veterinary nurses are responsible for the health and welfare of animals committed to their care and to fulfil their professional responsibilities:

  • Administer treatments (e.g. injections, medications, IVFT, dressings, first aid) as directed.
  • Where permitted, undertake minor surgical procedures.
  • Ensure patient records are updated and maintained.
  • Collection of samples for in-house, or external diagnostic tests.
  • Conduct initial health checks for all dogs and cats.
  • Conduct rehoming and vaccination clinics.
  • Prepare surgical theatres and equipment (e.g. Digital X-ray / dental X-ray and ultrasound) and assist Veterinary Surgeons in all aspects of surgery.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of anaesthesia.
  • Conduct clinical assessments of the animals under our care and make decisions on when a case needs to be escalated to a veterinary surgeon.
  • Facilitate the Hydrotherapy team in identifying dogs suitable for hydrotherapy.
