Are you a Vehicle Technician, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter or Agricultural Engineer looking for a more varied and rewarding engineering career? This is your opportunity to work on an advanced fleet of state-of-the-art military vehicles, specialist plant and defence equipment supporting UK Defence operations. You do not need military experience. Amey is interested in practical engineers and technicians from automotive, commercial vehicle, emergency-services, agricultural, plant and material-handling backgrounds. Full technical and military training will be provided.
Salary and Benefits
- £37,791.73 basic salary
- Additional £3,000 payment for maintaining Sponsored Reserve status
- Overtime paid at time and a half or double time during Enhanced bank-holiday payments

The Role
You will maintain and repair modern military vehicles and specialist defence equipment, helping ensure the fleet remains safe, reliable and ready for operational use. Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing and repairing military vehicles, plant and material-handling equipment
- Completing planned and preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Investigating breakdowns and carrying out repairs
- Replacing and rebuilding mechanical components
- Inspecting and preparing equipment for operational use
- Completing accurate electronic maintenance records
- Identifying and ordering replacement parts
- Working to strict safety, quality and engineering standards
Who We're Looking For
Applications are welcomed from experienced technicians, recently qualified apprentices and automotive engineering graduates with practical workshop experience. Relevant backgrounds include:
- Vehicle Technician or Diagnostic Technician
- MOT Tester
- HGV or Commercial Vehicle Technician
- Plant Fitter or Plant Engineer
- Agricultural Engineer
- Emergency-Service or Fleet Technician
- Forklift or Material-Handling Engineer
- 4x4 or Off-Highway Vehicle Technician
- REME Engineer
You should have good mechanical fault-finding skills and experience servicing or repairing vehicles, machinery or mobile equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic or electrical systems would be beneficial, but additional training can be provided.
Sponsored Reserve Requirement
This role supports UK Defence and requires successful applicants to become or remain an Army Sponsored Reservist. Candidates without recent military experience will receive the necessary Reservist training. You must be willing and able to meet the relevant entry and training requirements.
