Urology Cancer Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Urology Specialist Nurse - Cancer Nurse Specialist to join an empowered, skilled urological nursing team that work across both acute hospital sites, Royal Stoke & County Hospital.This post will provide a holistic specialist service for both benign and cancer patients. The post holder will be an empowered and valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, acting as a key worker working across a range of protocol driven services underpinned by theory.The ability to apply specialist knowledge across a range of procedures is essential as analytical and judgemental skills will require interpreting acute and other conditions, making comparisons of a range of actions required to optimise patient outcomes and, where necessary, liaising with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible specialist care for urological patients.,

• Fulfil the role of key worker
• Advanced communication skills
• Run protocol driven nurse led cancer and benign clinics
• Administer intravesical instillations
• Interpret clinical and sensitive patient information
• Utilise Urological clinical skills
• Teach and empower other health care professionals
• Request pertinent investigations that help inform diagnosis and patient surveillance pathways
• Active member of urological cancer patient multi-disciplinary team
• Implement and contribute to the writing of standard operational policies and attend governance meetings
• Remain responsible for producing and updating patient information
• Responsible for holistic needs assessment
• Respond to departmental on-going developments
• Work unsupervised but managed
• Remain responsible for self and delegated tasks
• Recognise when help and guidance is required
• Direct patient care
• Participate in research and clinical trials
• Instigate nursing audit / research
• Supportive of all Urological nursing roles
