Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Band 6 Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team on a 9-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity to provide maternity leave cover.

As a Urology Cancer CNS, you will support patients with suspected or confirmed urological cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancers. Acting as a key point of contact, you will provide specialist advice, emotional support, patient education and care coordination.

You will undertake holistic needs assessments, support patients to make informed decisions about treatment, coordinate cancer pathways and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, personalised care.

The role includes contributing to service improvement, audit, clinical governance and quality initiatives that support safe, effective and evidence-based cancer care.

Previous CNS experience is desirable but not essential, as a structured training and development programme will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist cancer nursing experience within a supportive team while making a real difference to patients affected by urological cancer.

You will demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, be able to coordinate complex patient pathways and manage competing priorities. We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable and committed to continuous learning and service improvement.

Previous experience in cancer nursing, urology or a specialist nursing role is desirable but not essential. Most importantly, you will have a caring and professional approach, sound clinical judgement, a commitment to high standards of care and the motivation to develop the knowledge and skills required to become an effective Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist.
