Full Job Description

  • Act as a first point of contact for patients, cares and other healthcare professionals
  • Coordinate patient pathways across diagnostics, treatment and follow-up
  • Be responsible for tracking patients against national cancer targets (e.g. Faster Diagnosis Standard) and ensure they progress through their pathways.
  • Provide administrative support to Upper GI cancer nurse specialists, including appointment bookings, completing referrals and liaising wider MDT members in the region.
  • Ensure accurate and timely sharing of patient information across services
  • Facilitate personalised care and support planning conversations, signpost to appropriate services and arrange onward referrals
  • Maintain accurate patient records and data systems

We are looking to recruit a highly organised and compassionate cancer care coordinator to support patients diagnosed with Upper GI and HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary) cancers within the Upper GI Cancer Nurse Specialist Team.
  • The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely progression of patients through their pathway, improve patient experience, and support delivery of national cancer waiting time standards. The post holder will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams. Previous experience in cancer service is desirable, but not essential. In return, you'll receive comprehensive professional development support including structured supervision and opportunities to grow within a skilled, friendly team. This is a highly rewarding role, where you play a pivotal role in improving cancer patient experience, helping reducing delays and improving outcome as part of a specialist cancer MDT.
