Sharlston Community School is an averaged sized, friendly and welcoming primary school. The Governors, staff and children of the school are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be someone who understands the school's current strengths, who values distributed leadership, and has the skills and experience to deliver continued improvements.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to developing the full potential of all children
  • Has high expectations of pupil attainment, progress and behaviour
  • Works well as part of a team and has good interpersonal skills
  • Is able to support pupils through personalised timetables
  • Has a positive outlook
  • Will promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Can work under the direction of the teacher to implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils to make progress
  • Understands EHC Plans and Learner Profiles, and can assist in formulating and implementing such plans
  • Can confidently assess pupils progress and identify next steps in learning using Wakefield Progression Steps
  • Establishes constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Genuinely cares about children and improving their life chances through positive school experiences
