Full Job Description

If you are passionate, supportive and innovative, and would like to make a positive difference supporting job seekers in Kent, then we would like to hear from you., We are recruiting tutors, on a Permanent Full Time contract. These roles are initially to deliver a new pilot course, working with DWP to support clients into work and the impact of the pilot courses will be evaluated with DWP to identify whether they will continue in the long-term. The pilot courses will be delivered in Gravesend and Maidstone in community venues. The successful candidates will have skills and experience in delivering courses with this learner demographic by:

  • Building a safe, motivating learning environment for adults with barriers to employment.
  • Delivering engaging lessons across employability, digital skills, life skills, wellbeing, teamwork, sector tasters and job search.
  • Supporting learners with low-level English, maths and digital confidence.
  • Working collaboratively with programme managers, employers and community partners.
  • Supporting learners in building portfolios and job search evidence.
  • Contributing to employer engagement and enrichment activities.
  • IQA experience and qualifications would be a benefit.

  • Hold relevant teaching and subject qualifications

    Are motivated to create engaging and supportive learning environments
  • Have experience of delivering employability portfolio-based courses
  • Are able to deliver at Entry Level making adjustments for individual learners' needs
  • Have strong English and Maths skills are required (minimum Level 2 or GCSE Grade C/4) to underpin all delivery.
  • These pilot courses are 12 weeks long with attendance on increasing days/week and DWP support to ensure learner attendance. As tutors, you will be responsible for ensuring all criteria are being evidenced to ensure learners achieve Gateway Qualifications Entry level Extended Certificate in Preparation for Employment (Entry 3) - Gateway Qualifications Learners will also have work experience opportunities, job search support, guest speakers and other activities to enrich the course offer and support them in the ultimate desired outcome of finding a job. You will be paid for preparation as well as teaching time on a ratio of 1:1 and other tutors will also be delivering aspects of these courses. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving License - The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
