Trust Resident Doctor, ST3 / 4 (MN37), Diabetes Endocrinology

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Trust Resident Doctor ST3/4 (MN37) to join our friendly and supportive Diabetes and Endocrinology team at Watford General Hospital.

This post is offered on a 12 month fixed term basis, with programmed activities to be agreed in line with service requirements.

This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist experience in the management of complex diabetes and endocrine disorders while contributing to the delivery of high-quality General Internal Medicine care. Working alongside a team of experienced consultants and a multidisciplinary workforce, you will gain valuable clinical experience, participate in teaching, audit and quality improvement activities, and play a key role in delivering safe, patient-centred care.

We are looking for a doctor who is committed to clinical excellence, works well within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrates strong communication skills, and is keen to further develop their knowledge and skills within Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Core departmental hours are generally Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. The post holder will also participate in the General Internal Medicine on-call rota, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis. Full details of the rota will be discussed at interview., The successful candidate will provide high-quality inpatient care for patients with Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine conditions, working as part of a consultant-led multidisciplinary team. Duties include patient assessment, diagnosis, investigation and treatment planning, daily ward reviews, monitoring progress, completing discharge summaries and maintaining accurate clinical records.

The post holder will contribute specialist diabetes and endocrine advice across the Trust, participate in consultant-led ward rounds, and work closely with specialist nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, therapists and colleagues from other specialties to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.

The role also includes participation in teaching, clinical audit, quality improvement and governance activities. We are looking for a motivated doctor with excellent communication and organisational skills, strong clinical knowledge, the ability to prioritise workload effectively, work collaboratively within a team, and recognise when senior support is required. A commitment to safe, compassionate and patient-centred care is essential.
