Join our dynamic Obstetrics & Gynaecology team and play a key role in transforming maternity care.

We are excited to offer a new Tier 2 Registrar post, developed to support the implementation of the Birmingham Symptom-specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS) and enhance the delivery of safe, timely and high-quality care within our maternity triage service.

The successful applicant will primarily be based within the Pregnancy Assessment Unit (PAU), providing senior clinical decision-making and supporting the assessment and management of women attending maternity triage during Monday to Friday daytime hours. Alongside this core role, you will gain a broad range of clinical experience through a rotational programme that includes obstetric theatres, antenatal and gynaecology clinics, and both obstetric and gynaecology on-call commitments, with responsibilities tailored to your experience and competencies.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced registrar looking to develop advanced acute obstetric skills, leadership experience and service improvement expertise within a supportive, forward-thinking department committed to innovation, education and outstanding patient care., The post holder will primarily work within the Pregnancy Assessment Unit, supporting the delivery of the Birmingham Symptom-specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS). Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, they will assess women presenting with pregnancy-related concerns, undertake clinical histories and examinations, review maternal observations and fetal surveillance including CTGs, formulate management plans and initiate appropriate investigations and treatment.

They will work closely with the midwifery team to ensure women receive timely, safe and effective care, escalating concerns and managing obstetric emergencies in conjunction with the on-call registrar and consultant obstetrician.

In addition to the core PAU role, the successful applicant will rotate through other areas of the department to maintain and develop a broad range of Obstetrics and Gynaecology skills. These duties include participation in elective and emergency obstetric and gynaecology theatres, including exposure to robotic gynaecological surgery, outpatient antenatal and gynaecology clinics, labour ward, and obstetric and gynaecology on-call duties appropriate to their experience and competencies.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to multidisciplinary team working, clinical governance, teaching, audit and quality improvement activities within the department.

If you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the manager.

You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks.
