Full Job Description

The post holder will be an integral part of the Orthogeriatic Multi Disciplinary Team, comprising of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, discharge co-ordinator, pharmacist, receptionists and housekeepers. You will have a very close working relationship with the Trauma and Orthopaedic team and the Trauma Anaesthetic consultants. There are daily Consultant ward reviews and daily multi-disciplinary meetings, which focus on a team-based approach to care and discharge planning.

Excellent communication and team-work skills are essential, as is the awareness of the importance of our (secondary care) links with Community Services and Primary Care.

We would welcome applications from candidates with at least 12 months relevant NHS experience. Previous applicants need not apply.

Kingston Hospital is a busy, flourishing Foundation Trust with approximately 600 beds and a 22 bed private wing. A wide range of acute medical and surgical conditions are dealt with on an inpatient, outpatient and day case basis. Intensive care, coronary care and high dependency facilities are available. Further sub specialities include an active maxillo-facial unit and an eye unit.

The post holder will work on the Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) inpatient unit, which consists of 36 beds for unscheduled (emergency) admissions. Typically, up to 80% of these patients will be elderly and/or have multiple and complex co-morbidities. Kingston Hospital has a much higher proportion of very elderly patients within emergency admissions compared with the London (and England) average and the expansion of the Elderly Care department, including Orthogeriatrics, reflects the large number of elderly people being cared for in our hospital as a whole., Developmentand staff wellbeing
