Trust Doctor (eqv to ST3+) in Fetal Medicine

An enthusiastic and highly motivated clinician is invited to apply for the post of Clinical Fellow in Fetal Medicine/Education/Research. We are looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join our diverse and stimulating department at Newham General Hospital. In addition to well supervised clinical experience, this post will provide a unique opportunity for a hardworking, ambitious doctor to enhance their CV and develop their career., The successful candidate will be working mostly under the guidance of the Fetal Medicine Consultants and will be actively supported in their professional development. You will be involved in various specialist clinics such as fetal anomalies, preterm birth, IUGR, multiple pregnancies, and counselling in fetal anomalies, and will have the opportunity to train in advanced obstetric ultrasound, fetal and uterine doppler studies, First Trimester Screening and invasive procedures.

The post holder is expected to support all Fetal Medicine clinics and occasionally Maternity Assessment Unit. In addition to regular Fetal Medicine sessions, the candidate will be expected to be involved in the monthly FMU/Neonatology MDT meetings.

There is an active ethos of Teaching/Training medical staff within the unit as part of ANNA (Alan Naftalin Newham Academic) Faculty. The department runs regular courses such as RoBUST, POST (Practical Obstetrics Scan Training), COPPS (Combined Online and Practical Perineal Suturing), and Teaching such as APEC, Diabetes in Pregnancy, antenatal screening study days and the Doctor will be expected to support the teaching and training courses.

Out of hours contribution is not mandatory but the Clinical Fellows are encouraged to cover rota requirements when necessary. The holder of the post will be occasionally called upon to deal with emergency and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant.

This is a locum position for 12 months and the post holder will work within Women and Children's division based at Newham University Hospital which is part of Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK.
