Full Job Description

The purpose of the job is to support a busy outpatient and day care urology facility in Newham University Hospital. The appointee will work in a friendly department with Four consultants, three middle grade ( junior registrar level), one foundation year trainee, group of motivated nurse specialists (benign and cancer), administrative team (pathway coordinators, managers, multi-disciplinary team) and members of the allied emergency, medical and surgical teams, Assisting the on-call middle grade in ward rounds whilst supervising the foundation programme trainee.

Clerking new patients from emergency, taking medical histories, performing physical examinations and carrying our bed-side procedures (catheterisation, cannulations, blood tests) and being responsible for medical prescriptions.

The job offers opportunity to gain experience in the vast urological practice and there will be rostered activity to assist in operating theatres, diagnostic clinics - flexible cystoscopy, supervised work in outpatients clinics and pre-anaesthetic assessment clinics.

The appointee will be responsible for maintaining accurate clinical notes, completing discharge summaries and onward referral letters.

This job allows for collaboration and liaison - with allied faculties, clinical personnel of varying levels, auxiliary staff, and allied health personnel, medical and nursing students, and of course patients and their families. So good communications in explaining diagnosis and management plans is essential
