Role description


As a Trials Manager you will be responsible for compiling and maintaining assurance documentation, conducting inspections and producing reports in line with Marine Engineering design solutions and project requirements. Working collaboratively with Assurance Section Managers and wider teams, you will support the timely delivery of vessel maintenance programmes and key milestones across the Queen Elizabeth Class, Type 45 Destroyers and Hunt Class vessels.


Core duties



  • Leading and supporting trials activities, including project planning, fleet and overseas programmes, mentoring colleagues and promoting positive workplace behaviours

  • Ensuring all activities are delivered safely and in compliance with company SHE, Quality and Product Safety requirements

  • Compiling and reviewing assurance documentation, certification and portfolios of evidence to meet customer and inspection authority requirements

  • Conducting inspections, assessments and reporting on marine engineering systems, applying pass/fail criteria and current BMS standards

  • Using technical expertise to identify, investigate and resolve issues relating to mechanical, electrical and platform systems on naval vessels

  • Collaborating confidently with project teams, customers and external stakeholders, providing technical guidance, best practice advice and support


Essential skills



  • Experience of planning, managing and conducting engineering tests and trials

  • Strong knowledge of Royal Navy marine systems, design standards and operational requirements

  • Good understanding of assurance, acceptance processes and product safety principles

  • Able to lead by example, promote safe working practices and support colleagues

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification, or equivalent relevant industry experience
