Full Job Description

We have 50 clinics nationwide and we are currently looking for doctors who can provide terminations of pregnancy from 7.5hrs a week to 30 hours a week supporting any of our clinics in the North - Doncaster, Merseyside, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Chester. BPAS are looking for dynamic, skilled doctors who can work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support our national services. You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, full GMC registration with a license to practice, and are passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare.

  • We can provide substantive, fixed term and casual contracts.

  • Main duties of the job
  • Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion and in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures
  • Complete client consultation if needed and complete the statutory documentation
  • Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other conditions which may affect the abortion process.
  • Be present in the operating theatre throughout each procedure and remain on site until all clients have been assessed fit for discharge from recovery or passed to the care of another on-site doctor
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to nursing staff in the management of unexpected outcomes, We may close this advert early if we receive a high number of suitable applications, although we aim to keep it open long enough to ensure a diverse and representative applicant pool.

    Are you a treatment doctor who has experience of operating with Termination of Pregnancy between 13+6 and 24 weeks or do you have a willingness to train and progress towards working safely and competently at higher gestations within the legal limit?,
  • Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post, or willingness to be trained in-house.
  • Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to be pro-active and flexible
  • Experience of IUD/Implant insertion along with knowledge of sexual health issues
  • Willing to travel to other locations within the region and/or work flexibly, Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, with full General Medical Council registration and license to practice - please state GMC Pin, Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post.
  • Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications
  • Experience of IUD/Implant insertion along with knowledge of sexual health issues
