Full Job Description
The successful applicant will be supported by the Clinical Educator team, senior nursing teams across Palatine Treatment Centre and the Christie Private care (haematology). The role will include maintaining strategies for the induction, education and continuing professional development of staff for inpatient, ambulatory care and day unit areas. The post holder will work clinically with staff ensuring they are supported in the specialist knowledge and skills. Ensuring the highest standards are maintained according to Standard Operating Procedures and Trust policies. The post holder will ensure the internal TYA/ Haematology education days continue to be up to date and evidence based. The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical judgement. Excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of TYA/Haematology malignancies, SACT protocols and stem cell transplantation is desirable., Work alongside the Senior Clinical Educator and senior nursing team to support the clinical development of staff across all grades, including contributing to competency-based assessments. Assist the Senior Clinical Educator and Senior Nursing Team in identifying and delivering strategies that enhance clinical practice. Contribute to establishing structures that promote best practice and uphold Christie values. Encourage and support the use of research and evidence-based practice within the clinical environment. Act as a resource for professional and educational development, helping staff access learning opportunities. Demonstrate positive leadership behaviours and act as an effective role model within the team. Liaise with external education providers to help facilitate learning and development within the clinical area. Work with the Senior Clinical Educator and Senior Nursing Team to support the implementation of service developments. - Working with the Senior Clinical Educator and senior nursing team the post holder will be closely involved clinically with the development of all grades of staff including determining competency-based assessments.
- Work with the Senior Clinical Educator and Senior Nursing Team to identify strategies for practice development.
- Work with Senior Clinical Educator and Senior Nursing Team to identify and implement structures to support best practice and Christie values.
- Promote and incorporate research/evidence-based practice within the clinical setting.
- Facilitate awareness of professional and educational development by acting as a resource.
- Display leadership qualities and act as an effective role model.
- Liaise with outside educational organisations to help support learning and development within the clinical area.
- Working with the Senior Clinical Educator, Senior Nursing Team to establish a system for the implementation of service developments.
- Reflect on incident reviews and lead on subsequent action plans. 2. Clinical
- To work 80% of the time in the clinical area supporting the staff in practice, facilitating reflective practice and providing daily support.
- Facilitate clinical resource information-Q Pulse/JACIE standards
- To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for the patients and their families.
- Ensure all nursing practice is within the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct.
- Be involved in increasing awareness of clinical supervision, Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) and staff Well Being.
- Develop and maintain competence in agreed basic and advanced clinical skills.
- Provide evidence-based advice in all aspects of oncology/haematology nursing through the work of the MDT. . 3. Managerial
- To manage time appropriately to achieve goals laid out by the requirements of the services plan, by Senior Clinical Educator, Senior Nursing Team.
- To manage and update the training portfolio for haematology/oncology services working with the senior nursing team.
- To feedback regularly and consistently to the Senior Clinical Educator, Senior Nursing Team.

- To support the haematology Lead nurse in auditing and evaluating nursing practice and service. 5. Clinical Governance
- Develop alongside the Senior Clinical Educator, Senior Nursing Team, a positive learning environment.
- Support on the development and implementation of grade specific teaching programmes, including teaching and delivering presentations.
- Advise on the development and implementation of Haematology & TYA policies, standards and guidelines.
- Offer support and guidance to staff in relation to individual continuing education/professional needs.
- Responsible for acquiring/ensuring access to resources to support learning.
- Maintain personal up-to-date knowledge base ensuring personal and academic accruements.
- Integrate reflective practice and learning from incidents.
- Be responsible for developing research-based practice and supporting staff to ensure that their practice is evidence based.
- In conjunction with the Senior Clinical Educator and Senior Nursing Team, undertake annual audit of education and clinical practice. Implement changes to education/training delivery and practice. Haematology/ TYA services: This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join an established Clinical Education team. Potential applicants should have relevant knowledge and skills to complement our existing Haematology/ TYA team. The Haematology Oncology service at the Christie offers state of the art treatments delivered by leading clinicians to patients with blood cancers across the Northwest. Services include an established cellular therapy and transplant programme. It is a specialist treatment regional Centre for teenage and young adults., The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, looking after more than 64,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 25% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country. We are the largest radiotherapy provider in the NHS with one in 20 treatments delivered at The Christie. We have up to 15 linear accelerators operating across our network of sites.
