Full Job Description
You will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of Protection and Control projects, from single asset replacements to new build substations. This role will challenge you with a variety of existing and new technologies as you participate in the upgrade of our electricity transmission system to meet our Net Zero commitments. What you'll do
- Specify, assess, and assure equipment for use on the electricity transmission system.
- Confirm designs from suppliers and contractors stage by stage, ensuring compliance with National Grid standards to maintain a secure and reliable electricity supply.
- Join a technical team that supports the Protection and Control of the electricity transmission system across England and Wales throughout its entire lifecycle, including development, tendering, delivery, and operation.
- Support both delivery and operational teams with the design, development, and commissioning of Protection and Control systems.
- Visit suppliers for Factory Acceptance Testing, assure designs, and review and calculate relay settings.
- Share your knowledge and expertise by delivering training to junior team members, mentoring, and supporting the wider team.
HND or degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience. - Knowledge and experience in: + Protection and Control system design activities. + Protection relay settings. + Commissioning new equipment onto a transmission system. + Writing technical documentation.
- Ability to share knowledge and expertise for coaching and mentoring.
- Willingness to learn and apply new processes and procedures.
- Valid driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK.
