Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Trainee Supervisor to join our Midlands region. This is a mobile role involving travel to sites across the Nottinghamshire area. You will be working in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council on a range of surfacing and civil engineering projects. This role is designed for individuals who are ready to build their future from the ground up-developing the skills and experience needed to lead site operations, manage resources, and deliver high-quality surfacing and civil engineering projects. As a Trainee Supervisor, you will gain hands-on experience in planning and delivering schemes, supervising on-site activities, and ensuring health and safety compliance, all while working in a dynamic, outdoor environment. - Supervise on-site work including surfacing, planning, and traffic management.
- Plan and deliver individual schemes, ensuring financial and operational performance.
- Manage labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors for efficient site operations.
- Ensure health and safety compliance through risk assessments and delivery plans.
- Take accurate site measurements and place material orders.
- Maintain site records and support invoicing with Quantity Surveyors.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to meet project goals.
- Work outdoors year-round in varied weather conditions.

Qualification: Mineral Products Technology, Level 5 Apprenticeship (Derby University) What we're looking for... We welcome people from all backgrounds-no prior experience is required. Essential: - England: 5 GCSEs (A-C / 9-4), including Maths and English, plus qualifications worth 64 UCAS points (e.g. A Levels, BTEC, Level 3 Apprenticeship).
- Scotland: Higher qualification (Grade C or above) with National 5 Maths (Grade C), or suitable construction-related qualifications/experience. Desirable:
- Motivation to work hands-on in outdoor environments.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges.
