Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner

We are offering an exciting Pathway to Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) opportunity within our expanding Mental Health and Wellbeing Team. Successful candidates will join Young Somerset in September 2026, gaining valuable hands-on experience within our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) before commencing fully funded university training in January 2027. During the pathway period, you will work alongside experienced practitioners, developing your knowledge and skills while supporting children, young people and families across Somerset. This experience will provide a strong foundation before starting fully funded university training with Exeter University in January 2027.About the Role Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) deliver evidence-based, low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI-CBT) interventions to children, young people and families, both individually and in groups, within schools. EMHPs also play a key role in supporting the Whole School Approach to mental health, helping schools develop positive, mentally healthy environments where children and young people can thrive. The MHST is delivered in partnership with Somerset Foundation Trust CAMHS.Training & Development All trainee roles involve a fully funded training programme delivered through a university provider as part of the National Low Intensity Curriculum.

  Salary and Hours: September 2026 - January 2027: £26,138 per annum, From January 2027 (Trainee EMHP Salary): £27,675 per annum
• Hours: 37 hours per week
• Contract: Permanent
• Location: Whilst there is an expectation to work across Somerset as part of the MHST, this role will be predominantly based in either South Somerset, Mendip or Sedgemoor. Travel across the county will be required.
