Trainee Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP)

We would like to recruit three Trainee Children's Wellbeing practitioners into Cornwall CAMHS team. The posts will be based in Mid Cornwall. This is an employment based training role within the forming part of a NHSE, HEE and DoH initiative to expand the metal health workforce offering support to children and young people at a stage of early intervention.

The successful post-holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing, mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively within the wider service.

The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills., Successful candidates will be offered a full-time educational programme delivered specifically for the role in partnership with the University of Exeter, due to the location of the employing services, the training will likely be delivered within the Exeter area.

All applicants must demonstrate in their application the ability to work at degree level or have an equivalent level of relevant experience, with a proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing or mental health. Further to that experience of working with children and young people and an understanding of children's mental health is desirable.

The training programme for this post starts in January 2025, is 12 months in duration and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning offering evidence based psychological interventions for children and young people within the CAMHS 'Getting help' pathways.

Delivery of the programme will be provided through a combination of taught days within a University, independent self-guided study days and experience gained in education wellbeing and mainstream mental health services

During training, the post-holder will work under supervision to gain experience to enable them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.
