Full Job Description
We are recruiting for a Trading Standards Professional Apprentice to join our Trading Standards and Licensing Team within Regulatory Services in the Council's Public Protection and Integrated Enforcement Division. If you are passionate about Trading Standards and protecting the public, committed to achieving positive outcomes, and have, or are forecast to receive the following qualifications, we would love to hear from you.
- two A Level passes, or equivalent in any subject,
- GSCE English grade 5 or above,
- GSCE Maths grade 4 or above,
- one other GSCE subject at grade 4 or above. In this role, you will:
- Complete apprenticeship learning, incorporating both on-the-job and off-the-job training to successfully complete the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional qualification.
- Support the delivery of Trading Standards and Consumer Protection Services through inspections, investigations, test purchasing and enforcement activities.
- Work under supervision to assist officers in a range of regulatory duties including, but not limited to, inspections, advice, complaint investigations, interviews under caution, sampling, and court attendance.
- Carry out premises visits including unaccompanied visits where appropriate.
- Use IT systems relevant to service delivery and training and carry out administrative duties.
- Work flexibly including occasional evenings and weekends and undertake lone and potentially high-risk visits.
They have qualifications listed above (or in the case of A Levels or equivalent, are forecast to receive them). - Have an interest and basic understanding of Trading Standards.
- Familiarity with IT methods.
- Well organised and reliable, with the ability to balance competing priorities, keep track of information, and complete tasks to a high standard within agreed timescales.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
Competitive salary £31,980 - £33,384 plus allowances (if applicable). - Local Government Pension Scheme membership.
