Full Job Description

Our Trading Standards Team is a diverse, intelligence-led service which supports local businesses and communities by robustly tackling unfair trading practices. As a Level 1 Trading Standards Officer, you will be involved in a wide range of enforcement activities including consumer safety, counterfeit goods, product labelling, weights and measures, under-age sales and animal welfare. Your duties will include undertaking prevention initiatives, compliance advice, inspection work and criminal investigations.

  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Have an understanding of the work that Trading Standards undertake.
  • Have experience of following set procedures and keeping accurate records.
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills including experience of writing reports.
  • Have IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel, databases, social media, and the internet.
  • Have good organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload to complete tasks within set deadlines.
  • Be able to work under pressure and as part of a team.
