Full Job Description
Dudley Council is looking for experienced trade operatives to join our Housing & Assets team, delivering high-quality repairs and improvement works across Council-owned properties throughout the borough. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving Council-owned properties, ensuring residents live in safe, well-maintained homes., You'll undertake high-quality repair, maintenance and new installation works to a variety of Council owned properties, including tenant's homes, whilst maintaining high levels of customer care and safety awareness
- All craft post holders are required to undertake a range of multi skilling, in order to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The position of 'plumber' will also be regularly required to undertake;
- Carpentry - removal and installation of kitchen units, and bathroom suites and associated timber and stud work, e.g. skirting, architraves, airing cupboards, etc
- Plaster patching - patching to areas of work, e.g. preparation for glazed wall tiling, and making good where required.
- Brickwork - make good to holes in brickwork, make good flooring, point up lead works, making good where required. Carpenter You'll undertake a wide variety of carpentry repairs, maintenance and installation work within Council-owned properties, including tenants' homes and communal buildings. Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing and repairing doors, windows, skirting boards and partitions
- Kitchen fitting and repairs
- Roofing and structural timber repairs
- Installation of fencing, gates and external timber structures
- Floor and stair repairs
- Working alongside other trades as part of a multi-skilled repairs team
- Providing excellent customer service to residents, As a Plasterer, you'll undertake a range of repairs, maintenance and installation work in tenants' homes and communal buildings. Key duties include:
- Internal plastering using gypsum and cement-based products
- External rendering and specialist coatings
- Wall and floor tiling
- Floor screeding
- Damp proof course injection
- General plastering repairs and maintenance
- Working as part of a multi-skilled team to deliver an efficient repairs service
- Providing excellent customer care and advice to residents
NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry (or equivalent) - Significant experience within construction or the built environment
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer care
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- A full driving licence, NVQ Level 2 in Plastering (or equivalent)
- Significant experience within construction or the built environment

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team

- A full driving licence Whilst each post has a core trade specialism, all roles form part of a multi-skilled workforce and will be expected to undertake a range of associated repair and maintenance tasks. We are looking for operatives who are flexible, adaptable and willing to work across trade boundaries to help deliver an efficient, customer-focused repairs service. You'll be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, including at height, and committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety. The successful candidate will be required to participate in an Out of Hours (OOH) rota as part of the role. This will involve providing support and responding to service requirements outside normal working hours on a rotational basis.
