Full Job Description
We have an exciting role on offer within our Public Health team as a Tobacco Dependency Advisor.
Smoke Free South Tees is our local tobacco dependency service, delivering evidence-based support to reduce smoking-related harm across the area.
We are expanding our offer and are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Tobacco Dependency Advisor (TDA) within our Public Health Substance Use Services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams that support residents with complex needs to help improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities across Middlesbrough.
As a Tobacco Dependency Advisor, you will be part of our Substance Use Services, delivering specialist tobacco dependency treatment as part of the Smoke Free South Tees programme. You will work across a range of community, clinical, and outreach sites in Middlesbrough, supporting individuals who may also be experiencing substance use or wider health challenges.
You will provide personalised behavioural support, deliver tobacco dependency interventions, and work collaboratively across the substance use pathway to ensure seamless, holistic care.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver one-to-one and group-based smoking cessation support using recognised, evidence-based behavioural approaches.
Complete assessments, develop personalised quit plans, and provide ongoing monitoring and motivational support.
Work closely with substance use practitioners, health improvement colleagues, and partner organisations to ensure integrated support.
Offer advice and guidance on nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and relevant pharmacotherapy.
Engage individuals across multiple Middlesbrough sites, including community settings, health facilities, and outreach locations.
Maintain accurate, timely case notes and contribute to service monitoring and evaluation.
Support wider Smoke Free South Tees campaigns, outreach, and public health initiatives.
