Full Job Description
This part time post (30 hours) will be split across two of our Community Hospitals one in Melton and one in Rutland. Our wards provide sub-acute care, complex rehabilitation and palliative care. You will work as a member of the Physiotherapy and/or Occupational Therapy Team supporting and assisting with the delivery of therapy interventions, promoting our patients health and well-being. The successful candidate will carry out therapy interventions within designated guidelines under the direction of a Qualified Therapist, ensuring effective communication with patients, families, carers and the multi-disciplinary team. You will support in assessment and on-going treatment by being responsive to information and feedback from the patient / carer and contribute to the smooth running of the Therapy department by fulfilling selective delegated administrative duties. It is an essential requirement that you hold GCSE Maths and English grade 4 or above (or an equivalent qualification) so please ensure these are recorded within your application.,
- To develop and deliver physiotherapy treatment programmes using guidelines set by qualified Physiotherapists e.g. patient education, exercise programmes or classes.
- Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes if necessary following discussion with qualified Physiotherapists.
- Maintain accurate documentation both written and electronic in accordance with professional, legal and Trust guidelines.
- To hold responsibility for own caseload within a defined area of the service and work without direct supervision.
- To communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives on an individual or group basis to maximise rehabilitation potential through verbal and non-verbal methods.
- This may require explanation, instruction, persuasion, motivation, negotiation and reassurance.
- To liaise with the multidisciplinary team / colleagues / medical / nursing staff as required.
- Take formal handover from wards in the absence of the Physiotherapist.
- To order general stores and equipment required by the department and maintain adequate stocks of such equipment, liaising with manager for authorisation.
- To carry out administrative duties as required, working collaboratively with clerical staff i.e. data input, typing, filing, provide reception cover etc.
- There will be frequent exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances with some occasional exposure to highly distressing or highly emotional circumstances.
