Full Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Radiographer to join our radiotherapy team, delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care to patients throughout their treatment journey. You will work as part of our friendly, collaborative and forward thinking radiotherapy team delivering high-quality radiotherapy treatment and associated imaging using highly specialised equipment. The role involves full accountability for patient care, supporting and supervising junior staff and students, and helping ensure an efficient flow of patients through pre-treatment, treatment areas, and the radiotherapy department as a whole. You will be based in our state of the art Dyson Cancer Centre which opened in 2024 at the RUH. It was purpose-built to change the way we deliver cancer care. - Maintain high professional standards
- Assess patients' status and suitability for procedures.
- Provide information, practical and emotional support to patients and their carers.
- Perform IGRT and data recording.
- Participate in induction, supervision and teaching of staff and students.
- Demonstrate the work of the department to interested parties.
- Assist in clinical audit or research being undertaken.
- Collect accurate departmental statistics.
- Maintain detailed patient records.
- Adhere to Trust policies including health and safety, ionising radiation regulations, local rules and quality assurance policies.
- Collect and input patient data for planning and treatment purposes.
- Accurately interpret treatment plans/ prescriptions and be precise in their practical application.
- Monitor patients during radiotherapy processes.
- Accurately and openly report clinical incidents.
- Observe, report and record machine faults.
- Calibrate, perform and record equipment checks.
- Operate treatment and pre-treatment equipment.
- Use effectively the IT systems.
- Follow an agreed program of continuous professional development.
