Full Job Description

As a Theatre Scrub Practitioner, you will be an integral part of the patient's perioperative journey by:

  • Possessing excellent communication skills to promote patient safety, and theatre efficiency.
  • Working within the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective patient care.
  • Participating in the Perioperative Management of patients.
  • Completing theatre documentation, digital and paper formats.
  • Setting up the Theatre alongside the highly skilled theatre team.
  • Contributing towards advocacy and patient centred care of patients undergoing a variety of Anaesthetic and Surgical Procedures.
  • Scrubbing and Circulating for a wide range of specialities, which include: General, Urology, Gynaecology, ENT, Breast, and Vascular. Furthermore, there are Trauma and Orthopaedic surgical procedures, including Joint Replacement, Sports Injury, Upper and Lower Limb Surgery.
  • Opening sterile packs to ensure Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Counting Instruments, Swabs and Sharps in line with local and national policies.
  • Maintaining a clean, usable department, adhering to infection Control.
  • Having a willingness to learn, striving for professional development.
  • Possess a flexible approach to a fast-paced department, adapting to service requirements when necessary.
  • Having an enthusiastic attitude towards teaching, supporting students and colleagues.
  • Completing E-Learning and regularly organised training.
  • Reporting to the Team Leaders to complete daily theatre orientated tasks.

    We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Scrub Theatre Practitioner to join our Halton Site Theatres, inclusive of Nightingale and CSTM Theatre specialities. We welcome applications with experience, newly qualified ODP's/RGN's or students who are due to qualify within the next 6 months. You will be fully supported with the adaptation to the department, including a preceptorship period for newly qualified candidates.
