Full Job Description

We're looking for a skilled and compassionate Theatre Practitioner (Recovery) to join our busy theatres team. Working within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), you'll play a vital role in supporting patients through the immediate post-operative period, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing at a critical stage of their surgical journey. As part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and ward teams. As our Theatre Practitioner (Recovery), you will be:

  • Delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to patients within the recovery area.
  • Assessing, monitoring and supporting patients throughout the post-anaesthetic recovery period.
  • Ensuring effective handover from anaesthetics and theatre teams and onward handover to wards.
  • Recognising and responding to clinical deterioration, including emergency situations and resuscitation.
  • Managing airway support, pain control, observations and IV therapies in line with best practice.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and well-equipped recovery environment.
  • Supporting infection prevention and control standards within the department.
  • Accurately recording clinical interventions, medications and patient information.
  • Contributing to stock control, equipment checks and reporting maintenance issues.
  • Participating in audit, education, supervision and ongoing service improvement.

    Relevant post-registration experience in recovery, anaesthetics or critical care (ITU)
  • Up-to-date clinical knowledge of anaesthetics, analgesia, emergency drugs and airway management
  • Confidence in recognising and responding to deteriorating patients, including extubation and resuscitation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A calm, organised approach and the ability to work well under pressure
  • A flexible and positive attitude

    A salary of up to £46,801 depending on your skills and experience
  • Work 37.5 hours over 4 days
