Full Job Description

As a Health Care Assistant in theatres, you will be an integral part of a large multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care for individuals undergoing surgical procedures. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will play a key role in delivering the fundamentals of care and supporting patients to achieve shared goals. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills who are keen to learn, adaptable, and ready to take on new challenges as our services continue to develop., As a Theatre Health Care Assistant, you will support patients through their surgical journey, ensuring they receive safe, compassionate and high quality care before, during and after their procedure. You will work closely with registered nurses, operating department practitioners, surgeons and anaesthetists as part of a multidisciplinary theatre team. Your role will include assisting with the preparation of patients and theatre environments, supporting infection prevention standards, helping to move and position patients safely, and ensuring patients' comfort, dignity and wellbeing are maintained at all times. You will also contribute to the smooth running of theatre lists by restocking equipment, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and responding to the needs of the clinical team. Experience of working in a care setting is advantageous, however it is not essential, as full training will be provided. You will receive all necessary skills training, and mandatory training to support you in developing confidence and competence in the theatre environment. The role requires a flexible approach to shift patterns, including a commitment to participate in the oncall service once appropriately trained. This is a varied and rewarding role, well suited to individuals who enjoy working as part of a team, are keen to learn, and take pride in delivering fundamental patient care in a fastpaced clinical setting.
