Full Job Description
Our client, a reputable Ministry of Defence partner in the UK, is seeking an experienced Test Equipment Design Engineer to join their leading missile system provider in Stevenage. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and designing test equipment solutions for the next generation of weapons. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day Test Equipment product support activities and manage technical changes through the engineering change process. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key interface between Design Engineering and Manufacturing, working closely with other support engineers to provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and issue resolution.
- Support highly advanced modular missile programmes and subsystems, ensuring effective design-for-manufacture and smooth transition from development into production.
- Contribute to a wider range of unique engineering activities, including opportunities to support launcher assembly programmes.
- Operate at the core of complex electronic engineering challenges, applying specialist expertise while influencing successful manufacturing outcomes.
- Benefit from a role that offers both technical depth in your primary discipline and structured opportunities to broaden capability across additional areas of electronics.
Degree-qualified in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent industry experience), with a proven background in product or systems design and supporting designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle. - Demonstrable design experience in one or more of the following disciplines: digital and analogue electronics, power electronics, RF and antenna systems, interconnects, safety electronics, test systems, schematic capture, and PCB design.
- Strong knowledge of, and adherence to, relevant BS EN standards within an engineering environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compliant engineering documentation.
- Proven experience working within multi-disciplinary teams, with a collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work autonomously where required, take ownership of work packages, and proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Experience managing discrete work packages, including bid preparation, cost control, and delivery of technically robust solutions.
- Exposure to supporting manufacturing activities and resolving production-related issues is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of design issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- A consistent track record of on-time delivery, underpinned by effective planning, communication, and stakeholder management. This role would suit an experienced and delivery-focused engineer who thrives in a structured, regulated environment and is motivated by seeing high-quality designs successfully transition into manufacture. The successful candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise, accountability, and strong interpersonal skills to support programme success. What happens now? If your application meets the initial selection criteria, a member of our talent acquisition team will contact you via email to arrange a structured screening call.
