Full Job Description
The Tenancy and Financial Support team provide support to council tenants to improve their financial circumstances and sustain their tenancy. This could be support with Benefits, help with Council Tax, advice around energy bills or options to reduce debt and outgoings. The support we offer directly contributes to our tenants thriving in their tenancies and helps to create more sustainable communities across North Tyneside. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day organisation and service delivery of the Tenancy and Financial Support Service. You will do this through assisting and ensuring that service users are appropriately assessed through a triage assessment process. The purpose being to ensure that appropriate cases are allocated accordingly and/or signposted to other services. You will play a role in supporting people to sustain their tenancy and encourage and facilitate their independence, quality of life, health and well-being. The successful candidate
- You will be the first and main point of contact for the Tenancy and Financial Support Team, dealing with customer referrals and queries.
- You will be providing advice and support, escalating when necessary.
- You will conduct 'quality conversations' with tenants, and their household, to proactively investigate the circumstances of those who are in need of help and support You will need to have a good working knowledge of Welfare Benefits as you will be supporting, advising and making recommendations to tenants in relation to welfare benefits. As well as providing help and support to customers by assisting them to make applications for Discretionary Housing Payments, Council Tax reductions and Income Based Water Rates discounts. You will need to have experience of working collaboratively with other agencies, information sharing when necessary. Liaising with our partner organisations and gathering information essential for the triage assessment. Please note that this is a fixed term role until 31 March 2027
