Full Job Description

Broxtowe Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our Housing Options Team. This is a rewarding frontline role where you will work directly with customers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing practical support and ensuring that temporary accommodation is well managed, safe, and suitable. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to clients living in temporary accommodation, ensuring compliance with licence agreements
  • Manage Council-owned temporary accommodation, maintaining high standards of safety, security, and cleanliness
  • Oversee the management of buildings and individual units, coordinating repairs, maintenance, and property-related issues
  • Carry out face-to-face visits with new customers, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and can access relevant benefits and support
  • Manage your own caseload of vulnerable individuals and families, delivering a responsive and person-centred service
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, and accommodation providers (including B&B proprietors)

  • You will:
  • Have experience working with customers, ideally within a housing, support, or public service setting
  • Have experience supporting vulnerable individuals or a good understanding of their needs
  • Have knowledge or awareness of tenancy and accommodation management
  • Be able to effectively manage your own caseload and prioritise competing demands
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, including with customers who may be in distress
