Innovation and Technology Services (ITS) delivers IT services supporting the University's operations and Digital Plan. Our Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) capability sits within the Applications and TEL area of ITS. We support and improve the University's core learning technologies including the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), e-Portfolio, Media Library, online assessment tools, and related platforms. Partnering with teams to create inclusive digital learning that supports student success. The Role The role supports IT service management for TEL systems, contributing to service improvement and best practice. You will act as a subject matter expert and contribute to TEL service development. You will act as a subject matter expert and contribute to TEL service development. Subject matter expertise expected in at least one of the following services: Online and Teaching Applications (Student Management, VLE, Student Apps). You will support delivery of the University's Digital Plan and act as a change ambassador. We are seeking an enthusiastic TEL Advisor to:

  • Support staff using learning technologies
  • Administer and improve core platforms
  • Collaborate with educators to enhance digital learning
  • The role blends hands-on platform administration, user support, and learning design enablement with opportunities to contribute to projects and service development. Key Duties: Support staff using VLE, e-Portfolio, and media tools Administer and improve platforms (courses, enrolments, assessment Develop high-quality accessible digital learning materials with staff Planning, delivering, and evaluating staff development (blended, online, and in-person). Contribute to TEL projects that enhance service delivery Create and maintain clear guidance and support resources. Use analytics and feedback to inform improvements and impact. Test and evaluate new tools and features using structured methods. Produce and manage media to support teaching, learning, and assessment. Ensure accessibility, inclusivity, copyright, and data protection standards are met.

    You bring practical experience of supporting learning technologies in Higher Education and can communicate with empathy and clarity. You are organised, analytical, and proactive with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy, service-oriented environment. Significant experience as a learning technologist in Higher Education (HE), with a strong track record of leading and supporting innovative technology enhanced learning, teaching and assessment. Proven ability to identify development needs and design, deliver and evaluate inspiring training and development interventions for a wide range of academic and professional staff. Experience of implementing, integrating and embedding TEL systems and software into everyday academic practice, ensuring sustainable adoption. Strong understanding of quality enhancement in HE and how digital tools and approaches contribute to improving the student learning experience. Good knowledge of relevant TEL standards, with clear understanding of inclusion, accessibility, and associated privacy, intellectual property and copyright considerations. Experience of managing or leading people and/or projects, underpinned by evidence of continuing professional development in leadership or management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and interact confidently at all levels within the University.
