Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator within the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service for Wales. This role will benefit young people aged between 14-25 years old in West Wales and will require an enthusiastic, ambitious and conscientious person to support young people through their treatment and beyond., The Youth Support Coordinator will work within the multidisciplinary team to ensure that all young people are supported and offered psychosocial aspects of care. This will include individual support, facilitating peer support groups and working with young people to enable them to cope with their treatment and the impact of cancer. The successful candidate will promote advocacy for young people and will ensure that their needs are met, through working closely with the multidisciplinary team. They will ensure that all young people are linked in to appropriate services and organisations that will ensure a positive treatment and recovery pathway. The candidate will work within the guidelines and protocol of the Health Boards and also with Teenage Cancer Trust. The Youth Support Coordinator will have a key role in continuing to provide a service for young people in West Wales and will work with local teams to ensure that the young person is at the centre of their care. This candidate will be keen to learn about cancer services and experiences of young people and families, and to endeavour to make this experience positive. The candidate will also continue to support young people post-treatment and will have an active role in encouraging them to continue with education, employment and activities.
