Full Job Description
As a Technical Support Officer, you will be contributing to the Council's core aim to enable people to live active, healthy, and independent lives by providing the first point of contact in the team for enquiries relating to private tenants living conditions. You will manage the tirage process, undertaking some information gathering and site visits where appropriate.
You will provide support to colleagues elsewhere in the Private Sector Housing Team including, monitoring the service mailbox, responding to telephone calls, and carrying out triage actions relating to complaints about housing conditions and public health issues.
As you will be working as part of a team focussed on providing support to vulnerable clients you should be able to display excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. It will also be necessary to demonstrate excellent numeracy and attention to detail to be able to carry out accurate financial assessments and to protect public monies. You should either hold a qualification in a relevant subject at a minimum of level 4 or demonstrate considerable experience of work of a similar nature.
Your work will require using several different IT systems and applications and therefore you should be able to demonstrate good IT skills and experience. You will be expected to be able to plan and prioritise your workload effectively and to use your initiative (respecting procedure and regulation). In addition to this you should be able to explain complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing, and therefore fluency in the English language is essential. Knowledge of housing-related environmental health legislation and the benefits/welfare system would be considered desirable rather than essential.
