We are seeking an experienced Asbestos Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and ensure full compliance across a large national portfolio. This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in asbestos management who is confident overseeing strategy, governance, surveying, contractor management, and assurance activities across a wide and varied estate., The Asbestos Subject Matter Expert will act as the technical authority for all asbestos-related compliance across a large national portfolio. Working across approximately 500 buildings of varied types, the role leads the development and continuous improvement of the Asbestos Management Plan, ensures regulatory alignment, and provides expert advice to senior stakeholders and operational teams.
The position involves managing asbestos data, coordinating surveys and remedial works, supporting incident response, and driving consistent standards of safety, compliance, and best practice across the estate., Serve as the competent person and primary technical authority for asbestos compliance.
- Maintain and improve the Asbestos Management Plan, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Lead compliance activities, including asbestos register management, audits, inspections, and performance reporting.
- Oversee commissioning and quality assurance of asbestos surveys, reinspections, risk assessments, and prioritised action planning.
- Manage remediation works, including removal and encapsulation, ensuring safe and compliant delivery.
- Deliver training and competency-based guidance to support portfolio-wide improvement.

BOHS P402 - Surveying and Sampling of Asbestos-Containing Materials.
- BOHS P405 - Management of Asbestos in Buildings.
- Extensive experience delivering asbestos compliance across large or complex estates.
- Experience in contractor management, remediation projects, and technical assurance.
- Proficiency with CAFM/compliance systems and asbestos databases.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple programmes at once.
- Collaborative, influential, and committed to continuous improvement.
