Full Job Description
North Lincolnshire Council is seeking a motivated and confident Customer-Facing Enforcement Officer to support the delivery of our Selective Licensing scheme and help improve housing standards across the private rented sector. This is a key role in protecting residents, supporting responsible landlords, and ensuring our communities remain safe, well-managed, and sustainable.
As part of the Housing Standards team, you will be the first point of contact for landlords, tenants, and local residents, providing clear guidance on licensing requirements and investigating concerns about property conditions or management. You will carry out inspections, assess compliance, and take proportionate enforcement action where necessary. Your work will directly contribute to the council's priorities of keeping people safe, supporting vulnerable residents, and strengthening neighbourhoods.
We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, a professional and calm approach, and the ability to handle challenging situations with confidence and fairness. Experience in enforcement, housing, environmental health, or a related field is desirable, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a commitment to improving housing quality.
In return, we offer a supportive working environment, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of people across North Lincolnshire.
If you are passionate about safer homes, stronger communities, and delivering high-quality public service, we would love to hear from you.
Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.
Candidates must be able to evidence their right to work in the UK. Please note the council does not hold a sponsor licence to sponsor people to work in the UK.
