Reading Rep Theatre is looking for an experienced, practical and collaborative Technical and Buildings Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our theatre. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of our productions, visiting work, hires and events.,
- Delivering and supporting the technical requirements of productions, hires and events
- Working regular duty technician shifts, including during performance weeks
- Managing and developing a sufficiently trained pool of technical staff and freelancers, ensuring competent cover across the programme
- Taking responsibility for day-to-day building maintenance and security, including alarms, access, keys and keyholding, contractor access and liaison with our landlord, Activate Learning
- Acting as Reading Rep Theatre's organisational lead and competent person for Health & Safety, providing oversight, advice and assurance across our onsite and offsite activity
- Leading on emergency planning and supporting safe working practices across the organisation
- Managing agreed technical budget lines

This role would suit an experienced theatre technician who is ready to take wider responsibility for the technical and building operation of a small, ambitious producing theatre. You'll need strong practical theatre experience, good organisational and communication skills, experience of managing people and budgets, and a sound working knowledge of Health & Safety. Experience of theatre and building maintenance is also important. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent relevant Health & Safety training is required, or you must be willing to complete IOSH Managing Safely within three months of starting. You should also be willing to undertake First Aid and Fire Marshal training.
