Full Job Description

Barnardo's will deliver a high-quality, tailored support service for children and young people (CYP) with autism and their families across Solihull. Drawing on our experience delivering similar services, such as our Birmingham Early Help Autism service, The service will deliver direct support to families, group programmes, and upskill/train professionals to ensure the funding delivers long-term benefits and sustainability. There will be four core elements to our pilot:

  • Cygnet Autism Programme for families and professionals
  • Specialist Training Programme for families and professionals
  • Autism consultation service for professionals
  • 1:1 family work
  • The service will be targeted at CYP with an autism diagnosis or on the pathway for a diagnosis.
  • To work collaboratively with Early Help practitioners in delivering on the actions of the family's Early Help plan, with a specific focus on autism
  • To support families with a child who has autism at an early intervention and preventative level; ensuring their development and wellbeing are supported.
  • To offer group work programmes to parents with children with autism
  • To support the development of knowledge and skills in the workforce on issues related to children with autism and their families.
  • To support the Early Help service with engaging families in early intervention and preventative work, offering good practice guidance related to autism.
  • To attend Early Help allocations meetings to support with advice and guidance on cases that are coming into the localities and provide specialist advise on cases where autism is a need

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band - this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.     Workplace Offer: What it means for you This is a 7.4 hour role split over 2 days and based in the office. There is no opportunity for hybrid working in this role. Barnardo's require colleagues to be UK residents, based in the UK and to complete their roles from within the UK (with the exception of colleagues providing Barnardo's services in Jersey and colleagues who live in the Republic of Ireland providing services in Northern Ireland)
