Full Job Description

The Role: Team Manager in the Redditch and Wychavon Families First District Team, Worcestershire are embarking on our journey through the social care reforms to develop the Families First team. You will be part of a friendly, innovative multi-disciplinary team with the key priority of building on existing strengths within the family in order to manage times of crisis or emerging challenges. You will oversee staff assessing the needs of the children and families, identify and manage risk and help develop a plan to increase safety and meet needs. You will work alongside two other social work team managers and two team leaders. Within your role you will supervise staff who are working directly with children and their families within their own homes, carrying out direct work with children in other environments such as schools. You will have an understanding of the strengths and skills of your staff and the needs of families in your service in order to match families to the right lead practitioner as part of the Allocations meetings. You will support staff to manage risk and make threshold decisions in relation to child protection matters and changes in level of need. In order to support you to do the best job possible you will be directly managed and supervised by leaders who are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children. In terms of the disciplines, the team consists of Social Workers, Outreach Workers, Money Mentor, Family Support Worker, Youth Mentor, Substance Misuse, Emotional Health/Wellbeing Workers, Family Decision Coordinators and Advanced Social Work Practitioners.

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
