Full Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Team Leader to manage and inspire our team of planning officers. You will lead the delivery of large-scale strategic development projects that shape the long-term vision of East Herts. What you will be doing

Lead, motivate, and manage a team of planning officers focused on strategic development projects.

Oversee the assessment and progression of large-scale planning applications and policy development.

Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, developers, and the community to ensure successful project delivery.

Provide expert advice and guidance on strategic planning matters.

Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and elected members.

In accordance with council policy, new appointments will normally be made at the first SCP point of the relevant grade. If, at the offer stage, a candidate can provide clear evidence that their skills and/or experience align with a higher point within the grade, appointment at the next SCP point may be considered. Any such decision must be reviewed and approved by the Director

Attached documents

Proven experience in managing teams within a planning or development context, preferably in local government.

Strong knowledge of strategic planning, policy frameworks, and large-scale development projects.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects effectively.

Passion for sustainable development and community-focused planning.
