Full Job Description

You will play a key role in delivering a safe, high-quality and customer-focused waste and recycling collection service, including:

  • Driving waste collection vehicles safely across the Borough
  • Leading, supporting and motivating your crew to deliver an efficient, high-quality service
  • Assisting with loading duties when required as part of a team-based approach
  • Using in-cab technology to report issues, record activity and access route information
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely in line with Council health and safety policies
  • Following instructions and working together using a team-based approach
  • Handling customer interactions professionally and passing feedback/messages to supervisors
  • Ensuring waste is tipped correctly and safely at designated facilities
  • Ensuring correct vehicle checks, safe operation, and compliance with road safety regulations

    You'll be someone who:

  • Takes pride in delivering a reliable service for the community
  • Holds a current Class II LGV licence
  • Holds CPC qualification (or is willing to undertake/maintain ongoing training)
  • Is physically capable of vehicle cleaning and assisting operatives with bins where needed
  • Is willing to undertake any training relevant to the role (including NVQ Level 3 in Waste Management if required)

    37 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday, 06:45-16:30
  • Occasional evening/weekend work to meet service needs
  • Full training provided including NVQs, CPC training and induction support
  • Training may take place outside normal hours and at other locations
