Full Job Description
All our homes will offer a service to those children and young people for whom residential care is a placement of choice and assessed to be the most appropriate resource to enable them to fulfil their potential. We're committed to working with our statutory partners as part of a trauma-informed, integrated approach which focuses holistically on what needs to change in order to achieve timely permanence., As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being, safety and development of children under your care. This role will see you working directly with and advocating for the young people to support and help them understand their feelings, frustrations and to support them with physical and emotional needs in accordance with culture, religion, health care, linguistic and dietary needs to help keep them safe. You will also be working positively with the young person's families, professionals and partners and establishing effective lines of communication. This role will also see you taking responsibilities as a keyworker and attending meetings and reviews as required. As a Team Leader, you will also be expected to provide effective leadership to a team of support staff including responsibilities, clarity of roles, providing guidance and working with senior management to ensure risk management plans are implemented effectively, reviewed regularly and update as required.
If you are passionate about providing stable homes built on love and care, and are committed to supporting vulnerable children and young people, you will play an important part in the continued growth and development of our residential service. Working alongside the Registered Manager and wider leadership team, you will help strengthen day-to-day practice, support staff development and ensure children receive consistent, high-quality care as our homes grow in occupancy. If you have relevant experience of working as a Residential Practitioner in a Children's Home and are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people in care, Gloucestershire would like to hear from you. There are lots of opportunities for you to join a workforce with great training and career development, supported by our highly regarded Social Work Academy., As well as your experience of working in children's homes, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:
- level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- evidence of continued professional development.
- a full driving licence and willingness to drive.
- DBS clearance In accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010, this role has a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the postholder to be aged 21 years or above. This is an essential and proportionate requirement to ensure the effective and appropriate delivery of the service due to the nature of the duties of the role and the ages and complex needs of the children and young people in our care., We may be able to offer sponsorship for this role, in line with Home Office guidance and subject to pre-employment checks. Applicants must already hold a valid right to work in the UK that Gloucestershire County Council can transfer., It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English.
Gloucestershire's Children's Homes are now operational and continuing to grow in both occupancy and strength. As we build on the progress already made, we are looking for committed Team Leaders to join our established teams and help us provide safe, stable and nurturing homes for children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our in-house residential service and support our wider ambition to help our most vulnerable children achieve positive and lasting outcomes., Our Children's Homes are operational and provide a range of support shaped around the individual needs of children and young people. This includes support for younger children who may need a period of intensive care, with the aim of helping them return to a family setting where appropriate, as well as longer-term residential care for young people who need stability and continuity. As occupancy grows, we are continuing to strengthen our teams, embed consistently high standards of practice and develop the service in line with the changing needs of the children we care for.
