Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a team leader for the COMPASS (Community Palliative Advice and support service) who have recently been created in North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT). The team are currently recruiting staff to extend the service to incorporate 7 day working in line with national policy. The post holder will manage an expanding team of clinical nurse specialists in the palliative care team and help develop an additional Hospice at Home Service with the Nurse Consultant to better meet the palliative and end of life needs of patients in Waltham Forest. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively support and liaise with other health and social care professionals and agencies across Waltham Forest. Applications are welcome from Registered Nurses (RN12-NMC) who have clinical skills and experience in palliative care but also have existing management and leadership responsibilities, or those with significant experience who are, Main duties of the job Line manage an expanding team of 7 CNSs and the new Hospice at Home team. On a local and trust-wide basis, provide access to expert, evidence-based clinical advice on matters relating to the service and practices To take an active interest in working parties and groups within the Trust to develop and improve on service delivery, protocols and guidelines Deliver and contribute to the strategic vision and communicate this your team and peers in Waltham Forest Be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, management and clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with CPD requirement and maintain professional profile Be an expert resource for specialist palliative care. Deputise for the nurse consultant nurse as required in attendance at strategic meetings. To participate in the development of an effective team and the development of productive working relationships throughout the Trust. To facilitate the development of a positive and
supportive team culture. Work with human resources and your direct reports to ensure all staff are being supported to deliver effectively in their respective roles. Provide constructive feedback to staff on their performance, taking remedial action when the performance falls below the required standard to assist them in addressing the deficits. Contribute to the development of an effective retention and recruitment strategy for the nursing/midwifery team and work with the directorate to develop

ready to move into a more senior role. Knowledge and experience of working at a strategic level would be an advantage.
