Full Job Description

Hours: 30 hours per week plus on call (covering minimum of 1 night per week on call and one weekend per month.) You will be motivated and passionate about providing excellent pastoral, spiritual and religious care to patients, visitors and staff including out of hours and in emergency situations. You will be a caring highly skilled listener able to be responsive to people in distress and deliver ritual care which is culturally informed, and person centred. You will work within the clear boundaries of the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy's code of conduct, respecting people of all faiths and worldviews, including non-religious beliefs, to provide compassionate support in collaboration with other members of the MKUH team. You will contribute to caring for service users at Willen Hospice and the Campbell Centre mental health unit as part of service level agreements. Please note that this post is subject to an initial probationary period of six months, extendable up to a period of 12 months. A DBS check may be required for new employees.   • Participating in the development, management and provision of the Trust's Chaplaincy Service.
  • Contributing to the visible pastoral presence of Chaplains throughout the hospital.
  • Ensuring that the pastoral, spiritual, religious, sacramental, ritual and cultural requirements of users are met wherever possible, and are appropriate and sensitive to their needs, background and tradition, whatever their worldview.
  • Working collaboratively and respectfully within a multi-faith and belief, ecumenical Chaplaincy team, which includes volunteers.
  • Sharing with the wider team in facilitating the provision of care that meets the needs of people of all faiths and beliefs, including developing and strengthening links with the local faith and belief communities.
