Full Job Description
In the role you will
- Organisation, planning, logistics and operation of our undergraduate Medicinal Chemistry teaching laboratories.
- Support our academic teaching team who lead undergraduate laboratory classes.
- Predominantly support our Medicinal Chemistry laboratories while providing support and cover for other teaching laboratories.
- Work more widely supporting the technical team, Technical Supervisors and Technical Manager who are responsible for teaching, research , operational and Health and Safety support.
- Ensure that practical classes are prepared for in advance, run in an efficient manner and that health and safety compliance is a priority.
- Ensure that the correct kit and consumables are ready, prepared/available for practical classes.
- Problem-solve where instrumentation and kit are concerned.
- Assist with practical development and problem solving where necessary.
- Communicate effectively where planning, preparation and running of classes is concerned.
- In addition to core teaching duties, support research and operational services around the Department, and where necessary, the wider Faculty.
You will likely have a degree in a relevant science (e.g. Biochemistry or Chemistry) for supporting students and be highly organised. If you have experience in supporting or delivering teaching or training, or of demonstrating experiments in a higher education setting this would be ideal. We'll also be looking for: - An ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet required deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with a broad range of audience.
- How you demonstrate collaboration with both your close team and other colleagues.
- Experience in health and safety compliance, including writing risk assessments and COSHH, would be an advantage.
