Teaching Assistant L2

Seven Hills School requires a number of enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants who would enjoy working in a happy and supportive school. The successful candidates will join us to complete a strong team and contribute to the school's success. Candidates need to have a calm, friendly and positive approach to all our students and be able to demonstrate a commitment to being part of our caring school community.,

• Be able to work collaboratively within a staff team and with visiting therapists.
• Provide high quality support for the learning, personal care, communication and physical needs of students, working across a range of ages and abilities.
• Have a high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to young people and adults
• Develop positive relationships with students, parents and staff
• Be able to adapt to changing situations
• Be flexible in order to respond to the needs of the students
• Have experience of managing students with challenging behaviour
Teaching Assistants also contribute towards students' formal and informal assessment and help build effective relationships between home and school. As a Teaching Assistant you are required to take an interest in each child, encouraging their learning and development and ensuring their safety. All Teaching Assistants are required to be proficient in Safe Moving and Handling techniques and Team Teach, full training will be provided as necessary. A knowledge of Makaton, basic ICT skills and experience of working with students with disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication difficulties would be an advantage but professionals with a positive attitude who are committed to their own professional development will also be considered.

Seven Hills School is a Co-educational Secondary Special School co-located with a good Catholic High School near the centre of the city. We cater for pupils from 11 to 19 years of age. All pupils have learning difficulties, and many have other associated difficulties relating to communication, sensory, physical and/or medical disabilities. In common with many other special schools, pupils admitted have increasingly complex needs.
